Thea K wins 2nd Stage Airplay in
Radio Crystal Blue's Annual Airplay Vote. Airplay segment to run on July 17th, 2005. Tune in to listen. The show is on every Sunday 7pm-1am EST, a free
listen on Live365. Thanks to everyone that voted for Thea K!
Thursday, March 24, 2005
Currently, Thea is taking a hiatus from the band setting and live performances until the end of 2005 to concentrate on writing songs for her sophomore album. She and her husband, Peter are also expecting their first child in July! Even though motherhood will certainly change her schedule, Thea intends to keep writing and playing music. Last year in July, she gave birth to a CD, this year it's going to be a baby boy! Perhaps in July 2006 it will be another CD, and the year after, another baby??!!??!!??

Thea K returns to the USA after playing to appreciative
audiences in London, England. The new Species Closeout CD gets sold and played in Ibiza, Spain, London, England, and is on it's way to Sri Lanka! Not bad distribution for a first month on the shelves. The CD release party is scheduled
for Tuesday, September 14th at The
C-Note in Manhattan's East Village. There will be a
free raffle of CDs and other Thea K merchandise.
Thea K is receiving airplay on Radio Crystal Blue and is to be featured in the "Future Star" segment on Sunday October 3, 2004. The show is on every Sunday
7pm-1am ET, a free listen on Live365!
or the Radio
Crystal Blue archive pages for those that miss the show.
On a sad note (pun intended) Peter Sampson is leaving the
band to pursue scholarly endeavors, so Thea has decided
to take a break from playing with a trio to focus on writing
songs for her second CD. She will continue to play some
occasional acoustic gigs and will probably reform the trio
when the new songs are ready.

A lot is happening now that Thea has recovered
from her surgery. Some full band shows
are scheduled for May and June. Mixing on the debut full-length
CD called Species Closeout is almost finished. It contains
11 songs and over 45 minutes of quality music and was recorded and engineered by Scott Clark at Mercy
Sound Studios in New York City with a couple of tracks
also recorded by Jason LaFarge at Seizures
Palace in Brooklyn, with Ed Ruokonen on drums. Anticipated release date is
in early June. Check back soon for information on where
to purchase it, hear song samples and attend the CD release
party.
Tuesday March 2, 2004
The recording of the debut full-length CD is mostly done, except for a few guitar parts. In the meantime, Thea is going into the hospital on March 9th for some necessary surgery. (No, it's not plastic surgery!) In other important news, the band name has been changed from "Thea" to "Thea K" to avoid confusion with the many other Thea's out there. Apparently there are a lot of other musicians and singer-songwriters named Thea. Go figure.
